  1. Some Institutional roadblocks that keep voter turnout low in the United States in the past have been tests measuring literacy, implementing a tax on those who vote and other

  • 2. The motor voter act tried to address to establish procedures that will increase the number of eligible citizens who register to vote in elections for Federal office;
  • to make it possible for Federal, State, and local governments to implement this Act in a manner that enhances the participation of eligible citizens as voters in elections for Federal office;
  • to protect the integrity of the electoral process;
  • to ensure that accurate and current voter registration rolls are maintained.
  1. Voter turnout is amongst the lowest of all countries in the western world. The likelihood that an individual will vote corresponds closely to his or her level of education: The more educated a person is, the more likely he or she is to vote. Age is also a factor: turnout rates are highest among Americans over the age of 40, and lowest among those under the age of 20. Voter turnout is also influenced in part by how close a race is. Voters are more likely no to vote when they believe they know who will win an election.

  1. The purpose of third parties in a two party system The primary purpose of third-party candidates running for public office is to call attention to otherwise ignored, misrepresented, or even suppressed principles or issues. The secondary purpose is to get the major parties to adopt the most important portions of the 3rd party platform as part of theirs. They also work to enhance the prospects and credibility of lesser-known ideas and lesser-known candidates, especially the 3rd party's state and local candidates, to gain and solidify ballot access, to expand the party’s influence, to develop an ever-larger national presence, and maybe even to replace or supplant one of the so-called "major" parties.

An Inconvenient Truth Analysis

Al Gore’s film entitled “An inconvenient truth”, brought to light many environmental issues that a pose a great danger to our society, and yet that so many are unaware of. The films director Davis Guggenheim, as well as Al Gore himself manage to use visually appealing charts and graphs to represent the information in a much simpler matter as opposed to excessive statistics that would confound a plebian audience.
Throughout the film, Gore manages to astound his audience by placing what may seem as
rather complicated environmental issues, and reviews them in understandable terms. His main focus is placed on presenting supporting evidence for the impact that global warming will have, and discussing in depth, the consequences that the planet will undergo if these issues remain uncontrolled. Additionally, Gore places an emphasis on the severity of the drastic climate changes the Earth has undergone for the last five decades. The surplus of human generated greenhouse gases being at fault for the impact on the earth.
These qualities of the film are easily understood, which makes this information accessible and easy to recall. The films effect on its audience lies in the fact that without the visual representations, the information presented would not be as effective. Gore’s ease when presenting his lecture, conveys a feeling to his audience that global warming is understandable and is not just a myth.
To make his points more effective, Gore juxtaposes images of numerous glaciers so that the audience may see their deterioration, and images of the Antarctic ice caps that show the
concentration of carbon dioxide. These elements of the film make it a visually appealing and easily understandable, as it is shocking to see change through images rather than hear a lecture focused on such change.
The film accomplished to add a personal feeling to the effect in which these radical climate changes affect the world’s population. Through following Gore in his daily endeavors or personal flashbacks, the audience better understands the extent to which global warming affects all creeds, races, and nationalities. It adds something that cold hard fact cannot convey, and it appeals to emotion.
Overall the film is properly executed with exciting music, visually appealing charts, and photos. This is documentary film making at its best, because Gore has managed to support all the information he presents with accredited research, which cannot be challenged. Gore claims that excessive carbon dioxide emissions pose a real danger to humanity, because it has been brought about by humans, and if humans aren’t the ones to fix it, it will take a toll on the earth and future generations to come. This makes the film a valid and inspiring work for the American population’s enlightenment into scientific evidence of the consequences of our industrial society.

Distance makes the heart grow weak
So that the mouth can barely speak
Except to those who hide their needs
And I have read the golden seal
That tell of how the seedlings feel
Reminds my heart what love can yield

By my only things are clear
Baby I'm staying here
Lonely lonely that was you
Lonely and so untrue

Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa

Men have named you

You're so like the lady with the mystic smile

Is it only cause you're lonely

They have blamed you

For that Mona Lisa strangeness in your smile

Do you smile to tempt a lover, Mona Lisa

Or is this your way to hide a broken heart

Many dreams have been brought to your doorstep

They just lie there, and they die there

Are you warm, are you real, Mona Lisa

Or just a cold and lonely, lovely work of art

In this world of ordinary people

Extraordinary people

I'm glad there is you

In this world of over-rated pleasures

Of under-rated treasures

I'm so glad there is you

I live to love, I love to live with you beside me

This role so new, I'll muddle through with you to guide me

In this world where many, many play at love

And hardly any stay in love

I'm glad there is you

More than ever, I'm glad there is you
